The WA government has moved to end logging in native forests with a state ban on native forest harvesting from 2024. The ban will impact timbers such as jarrah, marri and karri, found in West Australian forests.
Replacement farm forestry and plantations are planned and already running in WA but will obviously take some years before they produce the timber volumes required.
Choppa Block is working hard to find replacement hardwood suppliers and will introduce overseas timbers in due course. Red Grandis is a timber we’ve begun to use, it’s a beautifully warm timber.
